Lacei Hard Drive constant red light
Yesterday i bought my first LaCie HD. Its a rugged 1TB USB-C LaCies HHD and i algo bought my MacBook Air M4 16GB RAM. I opened everything today and connected the HD to the Mac. The HD mounts correctly, shows up on finder but shows a constant red LED light.
I did a bit of research and found out this is an alarm that something is off with the HD. After looking up infos for more than 3 hours, I downloaded ToolKit, the LaCie firmware updater (it shows no update is needed) I enabled Kernel Extensions, dowloaded DriveDx and did everything i could to fix this light but with no result.
Then i changed the configs from ExFat to the MacOS Journaling configs just to see if it would change a thing. Since it didn’t, i switched back to exfat.
I copied some files onto the LaCie just to see if it would copy, it worked. I looked up and on the internet the advice is to contact the guarantee and change it since i just bought it and has some kind of issue.
Basically: everything works but the Red Light is still on and constant, which makes me scared it might corrupt my files. I bought this HD to use as my “active” hd to edit photos (I’m a photographer) and have regular seagate hd for backup. Now i see that I’m probably wrong for doing this ahahah but still i want my Lacie to work perfectly.
