Download photos from iPhone 16 Pro to the MacBook Pro mid 2012

Since last software update I’m not able to download photos to the computer. Anyone has the same problem? It’s really annoying because all 19k photos are recognized in more recent computers but not in my old MacBook Pro 2016 where I save all the photos. What is the best solution? Thanks in advance
