How to safely restart a Back-Up-Restore via iTunes
Hey everyone,
yesterday my iPhone 12 mini's (128gb) storage was full and it crashed before I could do anything about it and ended up stuck in Bootloop. I've experienced this issue before and tried the method that worked last time without losing any data: Recovery Mode -> iOS Update. This time, however, it sadly didn't work and just did a complete reset. So I am now trying to restore my last backup-file from Nov. 2022 onto the iPhone. First time it got stuck at "calculating estimated time", so I had to restart the whole process. The second time it worked, but now after the restore has been running for 9 hours, it still says it's going to take another 29 hours.
I've been spending all day doing online research if there is any way to get the process to speed up. But they all say you have to disconnect your phone and that might fix it. I'm a bit worried, since there is active data transfer happening, if this is safe or won't damage something in the long run. Since I need a full and clean backup-restore, I figured I will have to completely reset my phone once again anyway.
The backup-file itself is saved onto my iMac (2015 model), but I have an extra copy on an external hard-drive because I was worried something might corrupt it the first time the restore got stuck.
I can't remove my SIM-card without disconnecting my phone, so I can't be reached by anyone via telephone right now and this is a big problem if my phone doesn't work again soon. So does anyone know if there is a way to safely disconnect and / or restart the back-up process in hopes it might take just a couple hours this time and not a whole day, I'd very much appreciate it. Or if anyone knows if it's best to just leave it, that'd also be much appreciated, because I really don't want to damage or break this phone. :(
Thank you very much in advance!
