Activation of old iPad not possible

Hello,

i want to reactivate my old IPad A1396, Pin available.

The IPAD was not in usage for years. I did already an reset of the IPad.

If i start the IPAD, i could select WLAN and connect.

After i receive the message “It may take a few minutes to activate your IPad”, after some minutes waiting a get the message “your IPad could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPAD to ITunes to activate it or try again in a few minutes.

I tried it now several times in the last weeks, but it does work.

Could it be that this IPad is not anymore supported by Apple ?

Thanks

Bye

Hi Woody_Vienna,

If you are encountering issues activating your old iPad and are receiving a message about the activation server being temporarily unavailable, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

1.Ensure a Stable Internet Connection:

  • Make sure that your iPad is connected to a stable and reliable Wi-Fi network. A strong and consistent internet connection is crucial for the activation process.

2.Try a Different Wi-Fi Network:

  • If possible, try connecting your iPad to a different Wi-Fi network. Sometimes issues can be related to specific networks.

3.Check Apple's System Status:

  • Visit Apple's System Status page (Apple - Support - System Status) to see if there are any ongoing issues with Apple's activation servers. If there are, you may need to wait until the issue is resolved.

4.Connect to iTunes:

  • Connect your iPad to a computer with iTunes installed using a USB cable. Launch iTunes, and see if it prompts you to activate the iPad. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation.

5.Update iTunes and macOS:

  • Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. Additionally, ensure that your computer's operating system is up to date.

6.Reset Network Settings on iPad:

  • On your iPad, go to "Settings" > "General" > "Reset" > "Reset Network Settings." This will reset all network-related settings, including Wi-Fi passwords. After doing this, reconnect to Wi-Fi and try the activation process again.

7.Contact Apple Support:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to contact Apple Support for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on the iPad model and your account information.

It's important to note that older iPad models may have limitations in terms of the latest iOS versions they support, and this could affect their ability to activate. However, even older iPads should still be able to connect to iTunes for activation.

Good luck!

Greetings
