Magic Trackpad recognized but Multi-Touch gestures not working (Ventura 13.7.8, MBP 2017)
Hello,
I recently purchased a Magic Trackpad (firmware 3.1.4). It connects via Bluetooth and is correctly identified as “Magic Trackpad” in Bluetooth settings.
However, only basic functions work:
- Cursor movement
- Click
All Multi-Touch gestures (scrolling, Mission Control, swipe between desktops, etc.) do not work.
In System Report → Bluetooth, it shows:
Services: 0x800020 < HID ACL >
It appears the device is only loading a basic HID profile (like a generic mouse), not the full multitouch services.
What I have already tried:
- Removed and re-paired the device
- Restarted Mac
- Safe Mode test
- Restarted bluetoothd via Terminal
- Checked Accessibility settings
- macOS Ventura 13.7.8 (MacBook Pro 13-inch, 2017, Intel)
Issue persists.
Is this likely a hardware defect or a Bluetooth profile issue?
Thank you.
