I can't record any vocals on logic

I can't record any vocals on logic

I was recording some audio reference tracks with the macbook air computer mic but it just doesn't work, I've tried changing the input and doesn't do nothing I've checked the mix as well and the output is on stereo as normal and this only happens in newer projects, old ones where I already have sound recorded I can record but only on existing tracks because if I create a new audio track on the old project it fails to pick up any signal again.

what do I do? help please.
