I am using Macbook 2018 with the latest version of Catalina. trying to connect with Uni's VPN but I can't. no-one is supporting me from the Uni too. all what I have from Uni is:
servername
type: automatic
user name
password
no more!
I can't connect, please somebody help me, what exactly do I need more, that I ask from uni or how can I connect the these infos?

Beside the informations provides the TO will at least need a shared key/secret or some kind of certificate. Also some types of routers (e.g. SonicWall) can't connect with built in Mac-VPN without configuring them.
I want to write: trial and error
Two times the same mistake. I think it was too late, yesterday.
Have you trial all VPN-Typs? Perhaps the serve is actual unavailable.

I've tried your method, but I get same error like the vpn server did not respond, verify the server Adress and try reconnecting.
any idea whether exist a test server for trying VPN?
or for remote working ('Home-Office') people which VPN Provider to use?

You need the VPN-Typ and the Shared key or a certificate.
On macOS you have there VPN-Typs:
You can find the type by try and error or someone give you the Information. The Shared key can be the same like the password. You have again the two possibilities: Try and error or ask.
In the System preferences you have Network. Here you can add a new VPN with the "+" - Button. Select the VPN-Typ and enter the server name, user name and the password. Then go to authentication adjustment. You have now the choice between "Shared Key" and Certificate. Choose "Shared Key" and enter the password again.
