Crash after standby (closed cover)

Hello community.

My anger is really huge. Really, really huge.

I work a lot.

On my workspace in office the macbook is connected to displays and power charger. After I'm done at a day, I just disconnect all the adapters (pay the machine, pay for adapters), put my macbook (without shutting down, I've never done this before with other macbooks or linux machines) into my bag and go home. At home I wanna to continue building/working on my stuff, BUT.... I open the cover or connect to my displays (at home) and this damned system is crashed. So it restarts or has to be restarted. Again and again, it's crashing after just being with closed cover for a while. With having a macbook for about 4500$ I have to live with this damned crashes, because Apple is just unable to get this bug (or whatever shit it is) fixed. All my apps, all my running compiler or builder should be restarted, rerun or whatever I have to do to get the last status before crash.

Every time after crash I wrote a comment into a crash report. Where does this crash report goes to???? Spam folder?

Since ordering this overpriced crashing macbook there were two or three updates for catalina. And last two or three updates there were no point for fixing this. What is going on?

I mean, here can be three reasons for keeping up this terrible situation ...

#1: Apple knows about this bug, but cannot fix it. In this case I wanna see Apple publishing a statement about this and also want a cashback about 30% of the price I paid for this crashing macbook.

#2: Apple doesn't know about this bug. It's truly unbelievably (cause I'm not alone here, who has this shit bug or crashes), but maybe it's so (sarcasm).

#3: Apple knows about this bug, but it is not profitable for Apple to get this bug fixed. Maybe, the engineers or the employees made a fault at constructing this macbook. And now, to get this fixed, it would be very expensive for Apple. So, no statement, no help for the customers, no fix.

I have no hope to get help from Apple. Apple isn't like it was at Steve Jobs times more. So maybe I get help from the community. Maybe there's anyone who has also this problem and has a workaround, a hack or even any solution.

What is the fix to prevent a macbook from crashing/restarting after a standby?

I am very tired of this idiotic bug.

P.S. I have a guess, windows 10 on pcs is more stable there days that apple's macos.

Peace.

Apple does not publish official statements about fixing any software issues and their timeline. Only once they have resolved those problems, you might see some information about that.

This is a user to user forum only, and we have no insight about things at Apple.

However, if you contact Apple Support directly, you might be able to get some answers, just like the user from the above did.

Until Apple comes up with an update, did you try those solutions that worked for some of the users in that other forum?

...

That also worked for me. I have a Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro running macOS 10.15.4 Catalina. The crashes when waking from sleep started after that latest update. Checking the box "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" and also unchecking "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" has solved the crashing problem for me. I've never had "Enable Power Nap" turned on, so this wasn't the issue for me, unlike some other users.

This answer by Cosmo M3 to a post from the english part of the Apple forums suggests, that this is a hardware problem, not a software issue:

...

Had a similar issue during hibernation when the computer would wake from sleep, but it would restart instead. The kernel panics started to pop up so I talked to Apple Support on the phone. AFter some troubleshooting myself, I’ve narrowed down the issue to the Intel UHD integrated GPU was causing the issue, therefore I called Apple Support. The lady on the phone told me that she was a “senior” in her position and told me that it couldn’t be the logic board that’s causing the issue.

No help.

Dropped it off at a Micro Center and received my MacBook Pro back today after an incredible turnaround time and Apple replaced both the Logic Board and the Touch ID Board per work order. If you have these hibernation related panics, ship that sucker in.

Did you already try to shut down your MacBook Pro and use Safe Mode to start it up again?

Resetting the SMC might also help:

Maybe also check this discussion in the english part of the Apple forums, this might really be related to Catalina.

Starting in Safe Mode will enable the Mac to test itself and check for errors.

It is also possible to check the hard drive for errors, using the Apple maintenance program.

After the restart the Mac and start using it as usual.

Den Start im gesicherten Modus braucht man nur, wenn sich der Mac selbst auf Probleme untersuchen soll, und man mit dem Festplattendienstprogramm das Speichermedium auf Fehler untersuchen will.

Danach kann man wieder normal starten.

Hi Mibeon,

how fare away from you is the next apple store ?! So I see it correctly you’ve got warranty on your machine and if it’s were me I will go ASAP to the store and I’m sure they can helps you to fix the issues on your MacBook.

it is electronic and so it can be faulty for no any reasons. It is so.

Millions of other people’s use it like you use your MacBook. And other people who use it like u doesn’t have any problems , with it like you have. So it it not the “**** machine” of company apple, and apple is not response for all the thinks where happens within there special devices.

but you’re right , it sucks a lot if you have such problems with it.

calm down and try to get help with it.

i think it must be brought to someone where is a Profi in hardware plus software.

in Germany we’ve got a sayer :

“the strenght is to be found in serenity”

if u go to the store or u get someone on the phone or email, the service technician are not the maker of problems! They have all the problems to solve. And it is the hardest to discuss the issues with angry and negative clients.

so be cool and try to explain it coolest you can.

i think it will be easier. The people by apple or any other company try hard to do her jobs every day, like u an me.

hope it will be working again soon.

Sorry, but posting your crash reports in these forums will get you nowhere, as Apple does not follow these discussions.

In most of the cases Apple will not contact you personally, after you sent crash reports.

Did you already try to post your problem in the english part of the Apple Community?

Check this discussion, for example:

...

I've had the same issue dating back to early May 2020. It happens while plugged into power or not plugged in, it still reboots after sleep mode. Ive contacted apple support and spent 3 separate days troubleshooting (3 calls) Completely removing all programs that were not apple, reloading the OS and then deleting everything to run as a new computer. Still had the same problem. They told me it was a software issue and they are working on an update. There has recently been 2 updates since then and has not resolved the issue. Very upset with the situation and thinking I may have a lemon. Computer was purchased in January 2020 and now June 2020 still under warranty and having problem with no resolution. Not happy.

Hey Ingo, thanks for your reply!

What do you mean with using macbook in safe mode? Is it just one restart cycle or should I constantly use it in safe mode?

Today morning (after be standby with connected power during the night) I had a nice error and crash.

This company gets more and more terrible.

Ingo, I will read me through the already existing discussions. Maybe I'll detect some helpful stuff.

Hey Chris, thank you for your complete reply.

I understand, that it could be a hardware problem. But, if I bought a Bentley (comparison to the MacBook's price I paid about 4500$) I want to have stable machine at hardware side and stable os at software side.

I mean, I used linux for some years productive at work. Also there I had some challenges to get specific software running. But it was an open source system. And it was more stable, than this macos.

I reported this bug for maybe about 100x times. No reaction from Apple.

For what is that commitment and report dialog there after every crash? Where is a statement or solution from Apple?

I can also understand, that we all need a good portion of patience. That's truly right. But after a 100th crash there is no more patience with this company, that's talking every year to made a worlds best notebooks with worlds best operating system. Not for this price. They got money for their overpriced macbook, so I wann have a stable system without excuse.

Don't be confused about the next screen.

I'm going to post (try to post) every screen from this crash and hope Apple takes it on their bug fixing list or give some solution.

No, I didn't it yet.

I searched along google and discovered following discussion on macrumors:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-catalina-10-15-3-crash-panic-cpu-0-caller-0xffffff801faa2d1c-sleep-transition-timed-out-after-180-seconds-while-calling-power-state-change.2227077/

There are really many people who has similar trouble.

I cannot understand why Apple is just ignoring our big problem...

This company makes me more and more angry.

They roll out updates with thing we don't really need. Security fixes are always a good thing, but there is also another huge bug, that makes using their macbook just hard.

I have just simple questions: Why they don't fix this damn bug? Why they don't publish a statement like "Hey, we're working on it with highest priority and keep you up to date". They make all the hardware from year to year more expensive, but the quality gets worse.
