Graphical Issue leads to crashes, mostly during photo editing.

Dear community,

I'm experiencing heavy graphical issues mostly during photo editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic. However, the crashes might be caused by something else since the fans are spinning wildly and MacOS crashes even while not editing (but with an open Lightroom or iMovie in the background).

There are two levels of experiencing this issue.

1) "Soft" Graphical issues without crash

One can see in my YouTube video that the photo in Lightroom isn't displayed correctly while playing with the black and white bar.

2) Critical graphical issues with crash

If I don't stop editing at this point (1) the display turns into disco-mode like this:

Which can look either like a blue screen without text or like this:

I've already been to an Apple authorized Partner in Vienna. They said that everything works fine and they weren't able to reproduce this issue. :(

Any suggestions?

Specs:

Lightroom Classic V10.0 Build 202010011851-ef6045e0

MacOS Catalina V10.15.7

MacBook Pro Mid 2015, i7, 4x 2,8 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 512GB SSD, AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2GB

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

It's hard to tell.

Photo editing in LR is probably the most exhausting thing for MBP in my workflow, thus I can't tell whether this also Issue occurs outside LR.

I'd also go with caused by LR in case 1, but it's not the application which is crashing, it's the whole system even though I've stopped working in LR after I've reached the point were I'm assuming that the crash is right around the corner.

[EDIT]: I've also opened a thread in the Adobe Support Community, but I'm afraid that they're assuming it's my MacBooks fault and right here vice versa. :/

Yes, I know this - I'm using Capture One and my MBP (32 GB) sometimes heats the whole office....

Looking at the pictures you posted it's remotely possible that your GPU may be malfunctioning.

But that's a rather wide shot....

Do these crashes only occur when you're using LR ?

If this is the case it's probably a LR issue and you should contact Adobe support.

Since yesterday i can confirm that it's not Lightroom!

I had iMovie running in the background (no LR) and observed the same issues as soon as the fans turned up.
