My mothers phone got violently stolen from her and before we managed to check into her Apple ID/Find my Phone they already changed the password.
She got an email from Apple saying if this wasn't me, please log in and change it; but how am I supposed to do this if I no longer have the new password the robbers set?
All we want to do is delete the information on the device.

bitte nicht in einer Mail auf links klicken, die könnten gefälscht sein, um an das echte Passwort zu kommen.
Versuche dich zuerst über die Apple ID Seite anzumelden. Am Mac oder PC kannst du dann dort das Gerät Sperren oder löschen.
Du solltest aber auch den Support informieren, wenn du glaubst er könne auf deine Zahlungsmethoden zugreifen.

You can change the password for your Apple ID, by using the security questions.
You can also do that, using another iOS device after downloading the Apple Support app onto that device.
Check the steps in this article:
If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
If this does not work, contact Apple ID Support about that. Only the can look into your personal settings.
Having the original receipt may also help to prove your ownership.

Nach der Änderung des Apple ID Passworts sendet Apple automatisch an die hinterlegte Mail Adresse eine Benachrichtigung über die erfolgte Änderung. Das passiert auch, wenn der Nutzer es selbst gemacht hat, und dient nur als Information zur Sicherheit.
Man kann in diesem Fall das iPhone nicht über den iCloud Account am Computer löschen. Wenn das Passwort zur Apple ID vorher geändert wurde und nicht bekannt ist, hat man keinen Zugriff auf seinen iCloud Account.

thank you for your prompt reply.
sadly the system doesn’t prompt any security questions, it asks for the Apple ID, next the original Cellphone number and then to either download the mentioned app (which is not available in my country (Peru)) or to do it from another Apple device, which would be my mothers IPad which has been disabled (I assume by the same people).
I have proceeded to contact Apple support, hope this works out as they do not have a working phone number for my region and the ones in the US or Mexico say I’m calling outside their working hours LOL
Leider unterscheiden sich die Service Optionen von Land zu Land auch bei der Verfügbarkeit der Support App.
Ich fürchte, nur der lokale Apple Support kann diese Sache lösen, weil auch der Zugriff auf Nutzerdaten nach Ländern und Regionen aufgeteilt ist.
