I have a new Mac M1 with MacOs Monterrey version 12.3.1.
I try to connect a new External HD Segate of 1 Tb HDD.
The Mac no recognize with this error:
If click Inicialize .. I go to Hardidk manager but is impossible to format or anything. Selecting any format APPS or exFAT of anything the error is the same. What happend with the mac??. In Linux or Windows not exist any problem with the same hard drive.
You can’t format any hard drive volume with APFS you have to use format macOS extended journaled and Guid partition Map , you should use disk Utility app in the menu bar go to View then select show all devices and select the name of that hard drive no the volumes find erase button then use format as I said above 👆

As I understand is impossible format my external hardrive to be compatible in Windows and Linux OS. Because using this. format type Mac Extended Joournaled only is supported by Mac, Right?
My Mac M1 not recognize any external hard drive
